Chul (철 / 鐵) = Iron, steel, strength, toughness 

Hak (학 / 學 or 哲 depending on intended meaning) = Learning, study, philosophy, wisdom 

Kwan (관 / 館) = School, academy, training hall

• Rooted in Tang Soo Do 
• Influenced by Moo Duk Kwan traditions 
• Built around practical self-defense, tournament performance, discipline, and leadership
• Moo Duk Kwan was founded in 1945 by Hwang Kee. It originally taught Tang Soo Do before later evolving into Soo Bahk Do.  
• Tang Soo Do is one of the original Korean karate systems that survived the Taekwondo unification movement. 

Chul Hak Kwan system is essentially developed as a modern branch inspired by that traditional Tang Soo Do structure, but with our own teaching system, testing, branding, and competition culture. 

Chul Hak Kwan emphasizes:

• Fast explosive kicking 
• Precision hand techniques 
• Pressure-tested self-defense 

Our slogan:
